On May 23rd, the inaugural Future Planet Awards were held in London, generously sponsored by Tsinghua Holdings Capital. The Future Planet Awards recognise excellent innovation stemming from universities across the globe. Rafael Ratzel, Director of International Business at Tsinghua Holdings Capital, was on the panel of judges at the event. Rafael was joined on the panel by world-renowned architect Lord Norman Foster and leading social entrepreneur Lord Nat Wei.
The Future Planet Awards brought together the most innovative university enterprises from across the globe, including BluePHA from Tsinghua University, a synthetic biological plastics company, and winner of the Sustainability Award at the Awards.
Speaking at the Awards, Rafael said: “This is a great opportunity to support the most innovative companies in science and technology today, firms that will really change the face of industry in future. For us at Tsinghua Holdings Capital, it is important to support grass roots innovation and maintain our strong link with Tsinghua University. It has been our pleasure to help organise, support and sponsor these awards and we wish every success to the competing companies in the future.”
